WHO WE ARE

Danielle Desulme, Founder

Exercise and movement disciplines including ballet, dance as well as martial arts have always been a part of Danielle’s life since childhood. However, it wasn’t until a friend reintroduced her to yoga that she found her soul’s true purpose. Almost immediately, she started to dedicate her time and energy in developing her yoga practice. It was only natural that she extended her passion to teaching yoga.

Jamaican-born with Haitian roots, Danielle moved to Haiti in July, 2012. Although it was primarily to open Haiti's first yoga studio, Project Zen with Haitian based partners, Danielle also wanted to reconnect with her father's homeland. A dream she had from she was a little girl on her first visit to the island.

In 2014, after the short lived collaboration at Project Zen, Danielle founded, Ayiti Yoga CO (AYC) which offers classes, retreats and workshops, a youth outreach program and yoga related events. Based in Port-Au- Prince, her events quckily became known as curated experiences whilst promoting a healthy and holistic lifestyle. AYC strives to build and nurture partnerships in order to spread wellness to the Haitian community.

With the political unrest in Haiti, at the end of 2021, Danielle made the hard decision to return to her birth home of Jamaica. As a yogapreneur, Danielle is always striving to elevate and expand her offerings. Although she continues to teach, her classes have evolved to a more personalised instruction with a keen attention to alignment and safety. Her private classes provide a more therapeutic based style for those with limitations and injuries.

As she settles back in her hometown, she is super excited in launching her new project, set to launch on 2024. Her warm-hearted and vivacious style encourages her students to embrace and accept all the gifts of Yoga.
